Editing & Publishing

Megan + her iPhone = bffs

I started blogging in 2003, while getting my English degree at the University of Southern California. After graduating in 2005 with an BA in English Literature, I got a job as a Video Archivist for EFootage, where I fell in love with working from home on the interwebs.

Which lead to focusing on a career in social media…

In 2008, I honed my online media optimization skillz at an event planning company called The Dave Linden Group and The Largest Mixer Events.

Which lead to blogging…

In the beginning of 2009 I began working as an intern for an online publication called Offbeat Bride which aims to provide positive encouragement to over 315,000 readers a month who are trying to retain their identities through the drama and pressure of wedding planning.

Which lead to editing…

By 2010 I became the Managing Editor of Offbeat Bride, serving up diverse content, managing interns and contributing editors, producing the scheduled posts each week, and generally geeking out over fun weddings and fascinating subcultures.

Which lead to web publishing…

In 2011 I was promoted to Associate Publisher of the Offbeat Empire — an online network catered to nontraditional women working their way through the traditional passages of life with our publications:

I now assist in managing a small staff of several editors, a copy editor, a sales manager, a team of community managers, and the best interns ever. At the same time, I also produce content and am the managing editor of both Offbeat Bride and Offbeat Home.

Come geek out with me!
